Application — Growth

Barkbus has 2519 reviews at 4.9 on its Mobile Dog Groomer page, but the home title sells luxury, not that proof.

Danilo Vicioso

Who I am

  • Former COO of Tabs. Built its creator program to 100M monthly social impressions, and the paid ad engine alongside it.
  • Founded Mainstreet, a consumer home-services platform: a team of 70, $25M raised (Greylock, Khosla, YC, Tim Ferriss). It failed.
  • Before that: Quintessential Ventures, an early seat at a high-growth startup, and entrepreneur-in-residence at Prehype.
  • I'm moving into growth specifically. The creative and top-of-funnel work is what I want to be doing every day.

What I noticed

  • The Mobile Dog Groomer page carries 2519 reviews at a 4.9 rating, while the home title leads with "Luxury Dog Grooming that Comes to You". The proof and the promise sit apart.
  • "Barkbus mobile grooming, typical low end" is $120.00 and "Barkbus mobile grooming, typical high end" is $350.00. A wide gap; a first-time visitor needs to see which dog lands where.
  • The first-groom offer reads "Book Your First Groom Today to Get $30 Off", and referrals pay $30 in Barkbux credit to both sides. Two offers, both worth testing as hooks.

What I built

What I'd do here

  • My KPI: scale ad spend, hold target CAC. Everything else follows from that. For Barkbus, one number to protect across every state you serve.
  • Week to week: launching a bunch of different experiments, losers killed early. Hooks come from the first-groom offer, the Refur-a-Friend credit and the no-commute pitch.
  • Creators who fit: dog owners filming a groomer arriving at the door, busy parents, and remote workers whose dog shares the desk. Short hook briefs.
  • Reporting so you never have to ask. Daily CAC. Weekly what we learned. Monthly cohort payback, tied to first grooms and repeat visits.
  • Event tracking I'd spec and work through with your team. That part isn't me. I'd need booking events tied to the ZIP code checker.

Creators come on two at a time, ten live by week six. Each posts the same number of videos a week, so volume climbs to 70 a week. New ads and landing pages follow the creators. Proposed.

Creator videos a week = creators live × videos per creator. Week 1: 0 × 7 = 0; Week 2: 2 × 7 = 14; Week 3: 4 × 7 = 28; Week 4: 6 × 7 = 42; Week 5: 8 × 7 = 56; Week 6: 10 × 7 = 70.

How I'd start

  • Build a claims sheet from the Mobile Dog Groomer reviews and the first-groom offer, so every ad line is sourced before a creator sees it.
  • Spec the booking events with your team, from ZIP code check to completed appointment, so daily CAC reads off real bookings.

I'd love to chat if this makes sense. Grab a time here.
